【摘要】:Thesamplingproceduresdescribedinthispracticehavebeendesignedtoensurerandomsamplingofsalt-preservedhidesandskinsforphysicalandchemicaltests.Salt-preservedhidesarenaturalproductsandassucharesubjecttoextensivevariability.Thephysicalandchemicalpropertiesvaryconsiderablydependingonlocationonthatspecifichide,side,orskinfromwhichthetestsampleistaken.Randomsamplingofspecimensfromapredefinedlocationandorientationminimizestestbiasandvariability.Thispracticedefinestheseparameters.Ingeneral,testscarriedoutuponsalt-preservedhidesrequirecompositelotsamplesgeneratedusingthepreparationmethodsdescribedwithinthispractice.Subsequentteststypicallyrequirethosecompositesamplestobeintwoforms:ExpressedHideFluid8212;whereresidualhidefluidispressedfromeachde-hairedandcleanedindividualhidesample,thenequalvolumesofeachextractedfluidareblendedtogethertocreatethecompositesample.HideMaterialSample8212;whereequalquantitiesofde-hairedandcleanedhidematerialareblendedtogethertocreatearepresentativecompositesample.1.1Thispracticecoversthesamplingandpreparationofsalt-preserved(cured)hidesforphysicalandchemicaltests.Thehidesorskinstobetestedaregroupedintolots.Eachlotisrandomlysampledinsuchamannerastoproducearepresentativesampleofthatlot.Thislotsamplemaybeusedtodeterminecomplianceofthelotwithapplicablespecificationrequirements,andonthebasisofresults,thelotmaybeacceptedorrejectedinitsentirety.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
